A mate/client of mine has just gave me a spare all expenses paid flights, hotel and ticket to the Man U v Spurs match for next weekend.
After the match I'm going to go up to Newcastle for a couple of days, so I need to go back to Manchester Airport from the hotel (Which is next to the Arndale Centre???) to hire a car to drive up.
What's the best way to get from the hotel to the Airport, and how long does it take? Train? How long/much in a taxi at about 8am on a Sunday morning? Hopefully there'll be no traffic?

I'd not get a car from the airport, they're much more expensive. Look for a place near the hotel instead.

Which hotel are you staying at?
Taxi takes about 20-25 mins and traffic will be very light at 8am Sunday morning. Taxi costs about £20.
You'd better hire a car at airport as no-where else will be open Sunday morning as I found out a few weeks ago when I tried to get a hire car for a guest on a Sunday!!
Trains go from Piccadilly station to Airport every 30-40 minutes on a Sunday. No changes. Probably cost about £6

I'm staying at the 'City Inn' which is right in the centre apparently.
I want to get a car from the airport as everywhere is shut, as said above, and so I can drop it back off to the airport before my flight.
Is there no train or metro or anything near the 'City Inn' or would it have to be a bus?

City Inn is very near Piccadilly station so ideal really. Just get train to Airport.

Hotel is nice. Very modern but a bit too minimal and clinical for my liking. They have a "Blue" bar which is quite funky.
