get them powder coated, or use plasticote black satin

some one was saying to me about using a couple of layers of oxide and then spraying waste oil on all the parts..

B&Q stock plasticote. I wouldn't go spraying waste oil under your car, unless you don't mind it dripping on your drive when it gets warm.

Chip off loose stuff and use a few layers of 'Krust' then paint them

get the rust off with vinegar then get em powder coated.
