I considered geek day with this but it's not really about the technical side of it so here seemes better.

vBulletin forums, a couple of sites I use have recently upgraded/I may have just noticed and now there is a google ad under the first post in every thread.

It's extremely annoying, I can only read one post on screen without scrolling wheras on here for example I can see at least 3 depending on who has posted, total waste of screen space.

I think VB has a subscription type system, i.e. pay the site it's on for a subscription and the adverts are gone. Although I'm sure the admin decides what to do with that as opposed to it being a mandatory system if you get me.

It's forums I have no intention of registering with, i'd stop using them instead of paying to get rid of adverts.

CS is so much better than other forums because of things like that.

Adblock here... no adverts

Is it VB forums software that truncate hyperlinks? Annoying that.

the things you are moaning about are set by the people that run the forums, you dont have to have them. We dont on Astra Owners Club.

That was just one example.

It's been a while since I've been on but it used to be terribly over moderated.

Scoobynet used VBulletin, they kept changing it and it got quite annoying with all the adverts. The site also had a very expensive club membership which would do away with the sponsored links and adverts should you be a "Plus Member". £30 a year wasn't worth it for getting rid of a few adverts though.
