Where do you get them from?

I'm curious to find out what my servers cost to run and tumble dryer on the weekly wash.

The wattson can hook up to the computer and it glows different colours depending on your usage, £100 is a lot for what it does though.

Do these just work for a single appliance then?

They normally hook round a main power cable at the electricity meter.

You get single appliance plug in ones as well though.

Fair enough. Seems pointless tho if it's hooked round the existing meter anyway?

not really lol. If you plug it round that it tells you how much per hour you are using. If you then turn any appliance on it goes up and you can see how much thats using. Her 2000w hair drier costs 33p an hour to use. Crazy lol

They are for the most part pretty pointless tbh, it gives you a visual indicator of what you are currently using though and some of them let you chart and graph usage which is quite handy, even if only to show that the electricity company is overcharging.

The wattson one glows blue if you have low usage then goes red straight away so you can see something has turned on.

Makes you think about leaving things on for no reason, only high power things though, I still leave everything on standby because everything in my house on standby put together doesn't use as much as the stupid adverts say one thing costs.

Sits at about 450W when everybody is in bed, sits arounnd a KW in the evening with tv's, computers etc on.

I don't really have it on the cost option so not sure what that is in pence.

That sounds a bit low but could very well be correct, what else do you have running?

In here theres a server going 24/7, 2 fridges, a few tv's/sky boxes etc on standby, a couple of cameras running and thats just when nobody is in.

I came across one I thought of getting today, looks a bit better than the Tesco one - more settings etc.

The top one for £40. That said, haven't actually bought one, not convinced how much I'd actually use it once the novelty wore off and I don't think I'm very wasteful anyway tbh.
