ha, ive not got a pic of a none ported head. but if you have one to look at here are a couple of pics of heads that ive ported:

none ported exhaust port 20xe(coscast head) not got a better pic of a unported exhaust port sorry

ported exhaust on a 20xe

match ported x16xe head(gaskets not quite fluch to face in that pic)

stock inlet port:

ported inlet on my tb'd XE:

should be able to see the differance. ported/polished head will always be better than a stock cast head. you open up the ports to let more air/fuel in and to let the spent gases get out quicker, helping make more power. obv gains depends on what induction you have i.e single throttle body, throttle bodies, or forced induction. exhaust manifold, cams, etc etc.

best thing is to search for porting.polishing on google and have a read. easier than me trying to put what i know into words

stock heads are good...coscast fair enough dont 'tend' to go porous, but the inlets on them are tiny compared to stock gm head. but it looks goodf on the spec sheet

also its not cost effective. it can take me about 3 days to do a 20xe head if i didnt have to take my mates to skim, cut seats could do one in a day(if had own seat cutter/skimmer) but, you cannot stand by a compressor for hours on end, it pisses you and others off.

so you can imagine how many heads they've produced so imagine if cost the company £400 a head to port....big unneeded expense as not everyone would want a ported head + you need to know what your doing,

craig will send some over
