Well depends on the job.

I had an interview on friday and I asked the following:

How is our acquisition by Bank of America going to affect this team?
What software development methodologies do you use?
Are you looking at using the .Net 3.5 framework?
What percentage of the role will be support and what will be development?

BTW it was an internal role, hence the use of "our".

James is right, get some devent relevant questions lined up and not just the normal "how much will I get paid and how much holiday will I get" ones. By all means ask anyway if they don't tell you, get it out the way before asking the proper things. I usually take a pen and paper with me otherwise I forget what they said

Probably the 3 worst things you can ask about.

You need to make it seem like you don't just care about what's in it for you.

I think that working hours/holiday is quite important when applying for a school.

What do you suggest I ask?

I think working hours is acceptable. Although be careful not to make it sound like you are an "In at 9am sharp, out a 5pm sharp" kinda person.

Ask things about stuff like training, career progression, perhaps ask about the way they go about something (like my software development methodologies question).
