Cyprus is the best Greek island there is.
FACT.
Not really very cheap though. Seems to command a premium because of this.

Paphos is a very nice family resort. The noise is in Ayia Napa, which is on the East coast. Paphos is on the West.

Majorca is decent enough. Had some good holidays there. Just stay away from Magaluf, its awful.
Croatia and Bulgaria are meant to be good and somewhere a bit different? Lots of new hotels in Bulgaria as its one of these up and coming places

been looking at sharm el sheik just now, some reviews are good, others are bad depending on whether you fall ill or not
why do people get ill over there? is it through drinking their water?

Yes, something to do with the minerals, our bodies are not used to the concentration. Or something like that.

Bottled water is very well and good but how do you plan on getting around the fact that the kitchens will be using the local water to prepare your meals...

You have to be realistic, and do what you can do. Anything after that is out of your hands. Thousands of people go and don't get sick. Cosmo didnt IIRC.

My Aunty and Uncle went and were fine too.
Just seems to be a high percentage do end up with the shits. I know you could be ill anywhere if the food was bad but you would have less chance going elsewhere. I wanted to go but I'd be fucking fuming if I ended being ill

Just looking at Sharm El Sheikh now for later in year.
Was going to go back to Marmaris in Turkey but been to many times now, need to try some where else.
Some bargains for Sharm at min all inclusive for £450+
Cyprus (Paphos) was very quiet when I went be good few years ago now, but somewhere I've never been tempted to go back to!
You after a beach holiday nice and relaxed or bit of a lively one too?

Where did you stay in Paphos? It's a great resort. Was really pleasant when I went.

Speaking medically, you probably catch the 'shits' at home before you go.

We went to Egypt a year ago and we were just really anal about not using their water. Brushed teeth with bottled water etc.. We kept to mainstream bars and restaurants aswell in the hope standards might be higher. I was ill when we got there but that was because I dont fly well and I either have the shits or feel god awful for the first night of any holiday.. lol
