Zafira at work today wouldnt start when somone tryed it so i went and had a bash and managed to get it started eventually but when it started it was making this really horrible banging noise like there was a few ball bearings poured into the oil hole  it also wouldnt rev at all, i thought driveshaft fucked?

Driveshaft definately wouldn't do that - Not stationary anyhow..
My corsa 8v was like that when i bought it... Good oil and filter change, and totally de-gunked rocker cover and pipes and its like a new car now...
Worth checking for gunk and stuff, if its sounds like that i've known dodgy camshafts or even crank shafts before now to make noises like that!
