One of the newspapers took a video camera out and recorded a couple of hours of footage of UAE driving...

I think the main problem is simply the amount of nationalities on the road and the different driving styles simply makes it a free for all.
As well as this, there is no road manners whatsoever - if you indicate to go into a lane you literally have to push yourself in as someone won't slow down to let you in.
It's even the same with even reversing out of a car park space - a car won't stop for 10 seconds while you reverse out - they will beep and make sure you know they're there so they can continue driving past you.
That car crossing 4 lanes to get to the turn off in the video is an everyday, every hour happening.
The majority simply have no common sense.
I find clapping someone sarcastically after they do something ridiculous/dangerous/etc gets them quite annoyed

That is pretty shocking, although you do get that over here. However, that flashing SUV would have been given a brake test if he was up my arse doing that

Tounge in lower jaw behined lips/front of teeth DURRRRRR style helps as well.
I found my time there ok, i found italy much worse. When your taxi driver undertakes a lorry on the hard shoulder, so close that the bonnet travels under the tail of the lorry, its time to get scared. Alll the time saying "schumacher ya" with me tightening up my belt in the back.
The last time i remember being truely scared in a car....
Wannabe fleecing taxi drivers in UAE scared me more.. cheeky badgers!!!

When I was in Istanbul getting the coach from the hotel to the ground the driver was litterally 12" away from the coach infront driving at least 60mph.

Apart from hard shoulder overtaking it wasn't that much worse than here.

Basically a points system just like in the UK where you get 3 points for speeding etc.
24 points and you're out. Apparently.
