edit:

When moving battery to the boot what you need?

Battery tray
5m of red 2gauge
length of black 2guage
connectors

anything else? Heard about fuses being used, but cant see that working well if the starter motor can pull 500A!

Also which way is best to do it? Wire to starter motor then another from starter to fuses? or distro block with wire going to starter and the other to fuses?

Also use gromets whenever you go through bulkheads or the floor with the cabe.

Ensure it is securely clipped at least every 6 inches and has suitable abrasion resistance on areas where it could rub etc.

And most importantly. DO NOT mount a lead acid battery inside the car. It must be a sealed battery if it is in the boot as standard car batteries are 33% sulphuric acid.

quote:
Dr Philip Parks
Inhaling fumes from a battery can be extremely dangerous and harmful to your lungs and respiratory tract.

When some types of batteries get wet or damp, sulfuric acid may be present in the air as small droplets or attached to other small airborne particulates (for example, dust). Sulfuric acid is extremely irritating to skin, mucous membranes (eyes, inside of the noseNose fracture, throatCancer - throat or larynx
Throat swab culture), and to the upper airway (trachea) and to the lungs.

InhalationInhalation anthrax of sulfuric acid droplets can cause a chemical pneumonitis (inflammation in the lungs).
[/qoute]

Do it right or not at all. Remember that in a crash, that battery will come flying at your head!

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
