Only required the one op though (used a graft from my hamstring). It's fine now, played football on it a fair few times without any pain.

Good luck!

Yeah either hamstrong or fibres from your glutes (ass cheek), but luckily I've not needed either.

When you say Glutes, I think you may be referring to the ITB part of your glute No1.

Seriously, if a graft of your ITB is suggested in future (your glute 1 is connected to the bone below your knee through the ITB) question that procedure. The ITb and cruciate ligament work in unison to stablise the patella tracking.....in my case the cruciate is stretched to an extent where the patella dislocates very easily.

Initial physio for me was to build up my quads (seemed like a good idea) to reduce the strain on the cruciate in patella tracking. Unfortunately, over the years this has resulted in me having 'very' tight ITB's....and serious problems with my lower back, and when i say 'serious', I mean life changingly serious

Just a small word of advice that ^^^ if the physios after say 'lets build your thigh muscles up, that will get you on your feet in no time'

Your reply should be:

'Fine, but I want my pelvic mass muscles worked on too, because focussing on my quads in this instance will inevitably cause my back to fail'

Jesus, I wish the internet was about back then so somebody could have shared that with me when I was having physio on my knees

Much appreciated Jules, I'll remember that, as it stands though I'm doing things right in comparison to what you've wrote, but I've got a very good physio who has a little surgery near me, there was no way I was going down to the NHS route. (Sorry Mum, sorry Faye)

No worries.

To put the back/knee/glute/ITB interface into context.....I'm in currently at the local hospital a half day a week trying to sort my lower back out after my knee problems....after probably 20 hours of physio examinations etc the physios have back tracked the problems back to my knees.

What isn't in question is that i have now got Ankylosing spondylitis (funny name - fucking hell its not a funny disease)

What is in question is how that disease came about, it could be genetic, but it also could be from silly ongoing advice about physio on my knees - and I mean years of physio not a few months.

The best of luck to you, treatment of your condition has come on a mile since my problems occurred.

Simply question whether the treatment/advice you are getting might make matters worse elsewhere

i have done all my ligaments in my left knee due to me dislocating my knee it basically bent the wrong way and twisted 90 degrees so my toes were touching my hip i have had 4 ops on it had grafts taken from my hamstring etc but now the grafts have failed so been back to the specialist to find out the only thing that is stopping my knee from popping out again is the skin my knee currently bends like a bow when pressure is put on it its ok to walk on etc but have now been told that i need to have a full ligament transplant and they will be taken from a dead person or a pig problem is i will be out of work for nearly 6-8 months due to recovery not good
