It is.
Plug in iPod, turn on winamp, add the songs you want to the playlist, right click and send to: iPod. Job done.

edit - just to add, if you use the media library then you can right-mouse-click on the album/artist/track and add it to the ipod
The only issue i've ever had with winamp was when i transfered 6/7000-ish tracks of mp3s, wavs and flac (last two require transcoding) - it basically failed half way through, crashed winamp and required the ipod to be restored.
Simple solution i found was to use the IpodSupport (ml_ipod) plugin and get rid of winamps own ipod plugin, seems to have sorted the problem plus this ipod plugin has loads of options to repair the ipod database etc which is useful at times!

itunes is good, but only on a mac! It's flawless on a mac, but on a pc it's complete and utter slow shite! Winamp on pc for sure!

There are so many stupid little annoying things with it that WMP does with no problems every time. For example, if you play an album then half way through a song go and look at something else in your library, it will stop after that song. Same happens if you go on the store or something like that iirc (haven't used it in ages but I'm pretty sure it does it on the store). It takes up waaaaaay too many resources (i.e. RAM and CPU time) and insists on having a helper application start when you boot your PC. If you stop it from loading the helper application, it takes an age to load. Any program that has to rely on a helper application to load quickly needs some serious work.

winamp does look a little confusing to much going off
