It seems to drop revs and cut out at random times. When i went out in it with him he couldnt get the car to do it.
I was thinking spark plugs?
Dirty fuel? Fuel blockage????
Any other suggestions?
Its a 1.4 petrol 306 i think 99' done 140k! and its dark blue

Just tell him to keep you in the car - seems to work. 
Anyway....
Basically just service it!
Clean AFM (carb cleaner), new plugs, clean the TB plate (carb cleaner), new air and fuel filter.

Could be the sender unit thing on the fuel pump, if you get what I mean, happened when my dad had his 306 and turned out to be the sender unit.

id look at the easy/cheap things first mate like earth strap from battery then plugs and check for any vacuum leaks etc
