My Corsa C diesel died on me today, i knew it was leaking a bit of diesel from somewhere as it left like a single drip on the drive every night.

however today whilst on a dual carriage way the power just dropped, i managed to pull over safely into a car park and when i turned the key the engine was just turning over with the starter. The AA dude arrived and said its leaking from the fuel pump just by the side of the block, he said the gasket had failed hence it was leaking diesel is this even replace-able?

most things are replacable, and if these have manuel driven pumps then its more than likely a hose thats failed as the pumps are sealed units and not things to be messed with...

just plonk it in a garage and have someone to look at it..

its more than likely a small nilon ring, or a copper washer thats got a crack in it.. wont be to bad to do... give vaux a call and ether book it into hem or a reputable garage you know that do good work

I had a similar rpoblem with my 1.9 cdti vectra. It turne out to be the seal for the fuel filter. If any tiny amount of air can get in then they just won't start.

hope you get it sorted soon

Find a local diesel pump specialist in your area. We have one round here called Diesel Pumps Express.

We had a Shogun where the front seal on the fuel pump went - and they took it all off and did a full recon and recalibration even though it was just the front seal letting air in.

Cost £150 all in and run so much better afterwards

ok i have found the problem, it was leaking out from the bottom of the fuel pump cover which is located just to the right of the block.

I removed the cover as i thought there would be a gasket but its just got two O rings that were perfectly intact, however first time i put it back it wouldnt start so i removed it again and tried lining up the scoring and it started up and seems to drive ok but my question is how do i know i have done it correctly as first time it didnt start at all so im assuming there is a timing issue or something similar?

It could have been an air lock the first time you tried it. If it's running ok for now then I'd get an AA card and carry it round for a few weeks till you get the confidence in it.
