Probably! Nip to Wilkos for a £5 carbon monoxide detector, or get it fixed

Possibly yes. More drastic way of reducing the risk would be to stick an air brick into an outside wall of the room the fire is in.

In all seriousness get it sorted its not a nice thing!

edit - if it was provided by your landlord you want to be making sure its been checked recently, landlords have to check all their appliances every year I believe by law

Its my mum heater thats not been used for years.... I should be able to hunt down a free one.

Its not if it leaks, Its if it has inadequate ventilation and complete combustion isnt acheived
