If the dash lights are dimming whilst it's trying to start/clicking then it doesn't seem like it would be a starter motor problem? Does just sound like a deed battery mate.

Well, it should do
"It doesn't start or work when you want it to..."
"Yeah, like a Golf"

When i got my clio out of storage for the first time in a year. I tried one battery i had in my garage to jump it but it just wasnt enough so i connected two batterys up and it worked
Abit risky but it certainly didnt hesitate to start up that time.

smaller engine cars can sometimes be used to start a bigger engined car, it depends how flat the battery is.
yours sounds as flat as a pancake, and the charger/car your jumping from sound too weak if it nearly starts first time.
bump it and go for a drive

Fuck your dad off and get the bigger car with bigger battery
And "iv jumped such and such with such and such" : maybe his battery is alot more dead than the ones you had

I managed to charge an XE corsa running no fan belt (which mean no alternator) all the way from Manchester to Glasgow - sometimes with the battery being so low that the car would cut out. I used my mates' 1.4 fiesta with no hassle at all.
It sounds like a dead battery but I'd expect it to be able to at least start the car and run it for a while if you've charged it, even if it's goosed

connect jump leads, start the car and keep the revs at 2k-3k for a minute antry to start you car then.
Dont have to rev the car your jumping it off, a car runs at the same volts wether its being revved or not.
No it doesn't, the alternator produces more voltage when you apply some revs.
Look at the 2nd last paragraph on there:

Your battery is proper fucked, go and buy a new one. Jumping it with the yaris should start it if you leave it running for a bit and then give the yaris some revs when you turn your golf over.

I jumped off my S3 after 6 months of no use off my 106 no problem so the yaris should do it fine. Maybe you just need someone giving the Yaris some revs when you do it.
When the golfs trying to start give it a bit of the go pedal (not to much though)

Lock the car and close the bonnet, ive done it plenty times or take the battery out.
With all this pissing about ur having to do id be away getting a new battery as its clearly the problem!

The battery must be really low. I got it on my bike. It was that low the gauge wouldnt work. And the started motor would click and wouldnt engage.
Leave it over night on charge, and in the morning, use a car to jump it aswell at the same time.
Should work
If not new battery
