alrite peps i have just fitted a new cambelt kit and water pump on my corsa 1.4 sport. When i put it all together and started it up it ticks ova fine but then wen i rev it between 1 n 2 thousand revs it makes a tapping sorta noise n then wen it goes ova about 2 thousand revs the noise goes !! any 1 know wot this cud be ??? thanks

tappets? have you also checked your oil level? could be low oil pressure.

iv checked oil level and thats fine it didnt ust to do it before i fitted the new cambelt kit and water pump it ust 2 make a difo noise coz water pump bearing had gone

the noise is coming from the cambelt area from the sound of it but i dont have a clue wot it could be

the belt was changed about an hour ago lol but put it back down off the axle stands and it was ticking ova nice and went to drive it n heard this and found that it only did it wen it was between 1 n 2 thousand revs so fort i shud try fix it b4 driving it

you got any other mods like vernier pulleys etc?
sounds like timing could be out.?

nope the rest of the engine is standard m8.would it still run if timing was out abit and make a noise wen at low revs ?? its all okay when ticking ova just wen the revs get between 1 n 2 thousand get a reli tappy noise then i rev it more n this noise goes

a mate done a timing belt on some vw timing was 1 tooth out ran fine just tapped a bit at around 2.5k
check timing if i were you mate. Or even i know it sounds stupid take all belt covers off make sure theres no shit in there rattling about

lol just tryed taking covers off a min ago to check its not catching on them and it still does this it seems 2 b cuming from by water pump and the tensioner

yep lol sure its the rite 1 its the same as the 1 i taken off lol!! on the tensioner once i tensioned it up n started it with out the case on the tension mark on the tensioner moves forwards and bk wards reli fast is it ament to do this ??? wot wud make it do this ??? it does the same as this vectra 1 on you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDJ0OvJ2xu4

yes the new style ones are self adjusting tensioners
you used the new bolt that came with it didnt you, as this should have a dome head....?

yep sure did m8 god knows wot it is but wudunt wont 2 risk driving it. there is no marks tho 2 line the water pump up to so i fitted it in the hole ruffley the same as wot the old 1 was n fitted belt n tensioned it up and checked tension marks on pullys n all seemed okay but jst get an anoying noise tapping noise between 1 n 2 thousand revs

does any 1 know wot the water pump is ament to line up to n were are the marks on the pump and woteva its ment 2 line up 2 ???

Do you mean tappy or is it more crunchy LOL.
I had this on mine, it was the guides and tensioners. mine was just over 2-2 n half thousand revs, after that it was ok.

I had exact same problem, I changed the tensioner and timed it up again and it was gone.
