im after a new alarm, possibly a tracker aswell as clifford do them however..heard a few bad stories about cliffords been tempromental? mates mate used to be boss at RAM in wakefield and said he had a lot back for warranty work

just wondering if people who have them have had any genuine trouble, because thats the last thing i want!

thinking either concept 650 or avant 5.5 with maybe a smart track & callgaurd?

thanks

i had a clifford 600 i think

was very good imo had it connected up to my solenoids for doors and boots

never had any false alarms etc

only thing that i found anoying was the proximity sensor but you can set the sensitivity on that or even turn it off iirc

Ive just had a Clifford Concept 650 fitted to mine, very pleased with it, works a treat and no problems so far.

Main reason I went for it was the dual zone proximity sensor, had an alarm on my green corsa but it would only go off after someone had done somthing to it and at that point it would be too late, so Im really happy with this one as Ive got the exterior sensor set just right so if someone walks too close to my car it buzz's.
Better to be safe than sorry

i got a viper VX480 and i think its ace,

only problem i have ever had with it was when the radio started going a bit duffed and it was shorting out and blowing the fuse it kills your car and nothing works..

viper do good alarm systems and you'll find that viper own cliford

What the hell does your radio have to do with your alarm? The alarm/radio shouldnt be on the same fuse.

And it's Directed Electronics that own Clifford

I have one, does the job and the proximity is a nice touch. However they do sap battery power, so if you're not using your car for a while it's likely you'll come back to a dead battery.

good at what they do but have a lot of brand value in the sense that you pay for the name. I was very happy with my toad alarm at half the price

With proximity sensors, what happens if you park in a tight gap between two cars?

I'm thinking it would go off if the person got back in their car or if someone else came along and used the space after the other left.

They beep rather than going off. Bro had proximity sensors on his MR2, they were quite sensitive though and it would beep if you got within 3-4ft of it!
