I started watching this last night, but turned it off after tens mins and decided i'll nail all of Dollhouse before starting this.

Of the 10 mins I watched, it seemed quite slow moving.

is this another series of the stargate tv show?

It went downhill as soon as they made it into stargate atlantis, although before then it was becoming long in the tooth.

Yea its the 2nd spinoff. I think SG1 and SGA are awesome. Although this new one sounds a bit similar, new crew get sent 21billion light years from home to a space ship, and have to try to find there way home.....

Star Trek: Voyager anyone?

I never really understood SGA, got bored of it. vibrio loved him, as did Joff and they would ramble on about it all day long.

The original was the best.

loved SG1, loved SGA.

Opinion so far, its a bit of the both combined. I didn't have high expectations but the spin off theory is valid. Its not great, but not bad either. Certainly more entertaining than some of the other stuff on TV.

I will give it more time, the first two episodes are more explaining how they got there and where they are. The story really starts next week.

Missis hated them all, thought I was ouber geek. Now she can't get enough, and wants the full box sets of both SG1 and SGA She's loving the new one.

HAsn't Sam and Jack (characters) got a lot older now.

I'd still hit Amanda Tapping big style though.

7 symbols = Our Galaxy
8 Symbol = Another Galaxy (i.E Atlantis in Pegasus)
SGU = 9th Symbol, Even further away.

Takes them onto a un-manned very old Acient ship, which stops at habitable planets where Stargates have been dropped onto (by a previous scout/stargate dropping ship).

Story goes the acients were going to use the SG system to get to the old ship to explore extremly far away panets and galaxies, but they learned to ascend before bothering to use the technology, so the ship just carries on its pre planned course with no real meaning anymore..

Until it was found by the SG team. But they are so far away they are now stuck on the ship and can't get home...

And now that storyline starts.

So how did they discover this 9 symbol thing? And why did they do it not knowing that they would end up in a far off galaxy?

9th Symbol found it Atlantis Database (remembering its back on earth).

They didn't know. They were investigating it. A new gamer programmer (who basically completed a video game, but to complete it you had to unlock the acient code, but he didn't know that) got taken to the planet the special stargate was found on.

Whilst trying to work it out, the planet came under attack, ironically (well it is hollywood), they worked it out during this attack, so fled through this special SG not knowing whats on the other side.

This SG was tied into the planets core (for power), and after they went through the planet blew up due to a chain reaction. They all ended up on this ship, not knowing anything about it, where they were etc. They can't get home, not enough power to run the SG all the way back. The SG activates when the ship stops at a habitable planet.

Its not real uknow.......

Run down..

Gate system is deployed by a very very old set of ships flying alone.

This information where the gates are dropped is sent back to this old ship they are on.

This ship then decides (by pre formulas from Acients) which is safe for humans to stop at an investigate.

I.E
So imagine a "scout" in the army, alone checking out the enemy.., which is then followed by the main platoon of troops which attacks.. Similar thing, but no army, and no attack, just exploring.

But as the acients have now asended, there is no-one to check out the planets. I guess the theory its how all the stargates were laid, as the ship originally started from earth hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Always gonna have some.

tbh, they've carried it out well, im just not so sure whether its too Star Trek for me yet. But it is a mix of SG1 and SGA going by next weeks epidsode (1st planet gate encountered, 12 hours exploring time). then it finished.
