Rome is amazing, full of art and tradition and it was amazing i loved it.
i went for a long weekendSaturday- Monday in Feb 08
i definately recommend it
(also last Sunday of the month Vatican city admission is free, do expect a 3hr queue though!)

Second, is a really nice place! Vatican and the Colosseum are well worth the visit. Oh and food is pretty damn good aswell
