im running it now (installed today upgraded from vista)
much quicker since restarting it just used less space than vista did.
only annoying thing so far is the task bar at the bottom mainly and when you right click to close programs.

You can make the 'Superbar' be more like the older taskbar, but TBH you get used to it after not that long anyway.
It closes programs on middle click doesn't it, not right click?

To answer the original question - it's miles better than Vista. It's what Vista should have been in the first place.

It's just about exactly the same as vista.

The UI is similar but not the same, and from my own experiences with it it's a better OS than Vista and even XP in some respects.

On the computers I've tried it on, 7 has been (or has at least seemed) faster than Vista, UAC is less intrusive, the UI is an improvement, some of the Control Panel options that took a few clicks in Vista are now quicker to get to.

UAC gets turned off the first time any vista or 7 pc I use boots up, UI does look a bit nicer yes but not any functional improvement for me, I'm more productive with my taskbar set to work the way vista does, control panel get set to classic view.

If you get the Windows 7 upgrade does it wipe your HD as i don't fancy moving everything i have on my laptop onto my external HD?

So far i'm pretty impressed with windows 7 (currently running the RTM verson). Have tried vista in the past and didn't think it was all that, but win7, although visually the same, seems to be miles ahead in performance.

Thats just how facebook and ebay are designed to show, they will *never* fit the page to the width of the browser if it's over 1024 pixels wide.
So any widescreen monitor will never show them full screen.
