Hi dudes, i having a bit of trouble with a spreadsheet im working on, to simplify the way i want it to work is:

If user enters anything in to Cell A1 then Cell B1 will prepopulate with the the date, the user then saves the spreadsheet and exits. I used the Today () formula, the trouble is when the user returns to the spreadsheet the following day, the date is obviously the following days date. I need to to stay the date it was when the information was entered into Cell A1.....?

Had a quick look and it seems you need to keep a COPY of the FORMULA.

See the last post for more info,

I can't remember properly but in a finance spreadsheet I use its

=subtotal($3$,e46:e58)

the 3 is so that it counts the sub total. I'm not sure what the formula is for todays date tho. I'll have a look and report back

Did you get it sorted? I can't see any other way of doing it, you can't even 'freeze' the cell.

Yes $ might work. Put it at the start of the formula.
