Got a verbal quote from my broker to swap my policy from my 205 to my Laguna at the end of September. It was approx 83 quid for the remainder of the policy (ends in June).

Been on crutches for weeks and unable to drive. Phoned my broker today to swap the policy over as of midday tomorrow and presumed i'd be asked to cough up in the region of seventyish quid for the swap.

Not a chance. It's gone UP, to £110

I'm already on the breadline so i'm just really pissed off now. Should have swapped it over when I first phoned. Oh what a joy hindsight is.

To make matters worse, the additional premium can't be paid seperately. It has to be added to my direct debit so i'll be paying interest on that ammount too.

I hate insurance companies.

A quote is only valid for 30 days. Shop around to see if you can get it cheaper.

Was thinking about this Ian, but I have a direct debit in force to pay the premium, plus I had an accident in September, so I thought I could end up costing myself money.

Not sure where I stand re policy cancellation what with the claim.

Oh, I was actually aware of that cheers Pop. I just must have been a bit naive as I presumed the price would drop below the eighty quid mark as it was a month and a half further into the duration of my policy. The last thing i was expecting was it to increase.

The problem with the market at the moment is that rates are rising. Not ideal for you I know.

It's such a pain isn't it Col.

I'll have to try moneysupermarket etc again, but I can't see anyone helping me out considering how recent my last accident was.

The annoying thing is, I got a really good quote for the Pug from moneysupermarket a couple of months before the accident.

Typical

Thinking about it, you may be better accepting it at that. The worst situation to be in would be to shop around and not find it cheaper, then finding the rate has increased again.

I know. God it's all a load of shit isn't it Pop.

I think i'll give my broker another call on Monday and make some enquiries re policy cancellation though.

I'll see if the claim has been settled too, then I can get the info I need to do an accurate online quote.

My insurance wanted an extra £400 to swap from my 1.8 astra to my new gsi ....to last from september till jan! - when the policy was only £590 in the first place!

Told them to gtf, cancelled the policy and got a new one for a year for £650

Missed out on 9months no claims but
£400 was a joke!

My V8 was double that after I got my license back. Which is why she is currently an ornament.

That's fairly incredible Col, especially for a company that must piss millions away each year on advertising.

I think the cheapest premium I ever paid was about 180 quid for a 1.6 litre Cavalier hatchback about eleven or twelve years ago.

I want cheap insurance.

So... XE corsa to 1.0 12v for 2 months. How much?
