It wont pressurise (most gearboxes arent sealed) but it will put a lot of load on the gearbox.

Should have an overflow plug shouldnt it so it lets fluid out until its the correct level...

Sounds a bit whiney which is why I was worried


due to using limited driveway equipment I never know if its 100% flat to get the correct level.


Where would I be looking for an overflow?

the vuxhall boxes normally throw it out the breather in the filler nut if overfilled. Should be okay though tbh.

should be fine it will be fitted with a breather as long as its near enough to the level it will be fine.

Braved the darkness and cold this evening as I found by drain key.

A bit dribbled out by no more then 100ml so it couldnt have been that overfull.


Would running 10 - 90 oil make much difference to 10 -80 oil?

Got 10 - 90 in it but the old owner said he ran 10 -80 in it

The correct oil for most vauxhall FWD boxs is 75w85 (castrol SMX-S)

its not a vauxhall box, its a saxo.
