fm modulators give crap sound quality, as it feeds the input through the aerial jack, therefore you have to tune it as a radio station meaning quality ain't too good.

so say i got a screen with only a headphone jack and no pre-out there would be no way to wire it upto my headunit or amp? and my amp doesnt take high power inputs.

depends what your using as a source, if it a xbox, ps2 etc.. you will no doubt have three RCA's that go to the screen, Yellow (Video) Red and White (L&R Audio) with this you could just put the yellow rca to the screen and the red and white to your headunit (if it has Aux in) or into your amp. That way the sound will be sent to your headunit/amp but not the screen.

if not, you can buy a 3.5mm to 2 RCA phono lead which will convert your headphone jack to RCA leads

you just keep the volume level very low on the tv itself.

i dont think that the signal is right from the console to go straight into the amps, well thats what i have been told, also that would require you to have all your speakers amped or you wont hear the sound from all of them.
u can get high freqency to RCA converters for sodd all from auto leads too if that helps.
alternatively get a good headunit with inputs, thats what i am gonna do - the fm modulator sint THAT bad tho.

Had loads of interference with the fm modulator i had! got the pioneer P8400 and got pioneers own one and the sound was perfect no interference what so ever...
