How the hell did you find your job, they seem to be literly non-existant now, if I search in totaljobs/monster etc it comes up with nothing most of the time.

Searching in the wrong place.
Look at companies websites and see if they have a graduate scheme.

aye, I was looking at the likes of rolls royce and they have a graduate scheme but they only want graduates that have honours degrees or 2:2, I was thinking doing a trainee enterprise car hire manager position as all they want is someone with a degree but people say it is shite working for them, who knows, probably just ex employees that got sacked for some reason.
But I want a design job thats what I want to do

What's product design engineering specifically? Without being degrading, is it basically a CAD jockey?

What are you doing in the mean time for work? If you're struggling to get a job I'd suggest doing another course in the mean time.

Hand drawing, CAD drawing (model analysis too) I used pro/engineer, I did a lot of stuff that mechanical engineers do as well like working out what bearings, sprockets, belts, chains should be used for eg an electric generator run off a slow/ fast (harsh) start diesel engine, its more complecated than I thought, with pages of calculations.
I had an added motorsport bit too so did suspension design (my main subject, I know everything ) using a program called wingeo. Also working out what springs, dampers, brake caliper/ disk/pad/ master cylinder choices with pages of calculations again.

I have a part-time pub job in the mean time, not bad pay at all really.
There is a shit load of mechanical engineering jobs out there, I should have done that instead. But 4 years ago there was a shit load of product design jobs

Have a look on Huxley's website. I get a lot of e-mails off of them with design engineer positions.

Oh, and how about Design Week? You been looking in the back of that?
I think Arup might have a few design engineer roles. Phillips do too in their product development department. It's in Amsterdam though, I think to get a good job with them you need an MSc or a PhD though.

Sounds interesting, I'll stick with my project engineering - suits me better. Hate working on my own.

Is that a recruitment company?
EDIT - as it says apply for 2010 intake, so sound like a job opening if you know what I mean.
