Good composition and angles but the lighting lets them down really, but indoor environments like this are harder where you can't necessarily control the lighting as much

Shutter speed is way to low in this, If you have an extenal flashgun them wack the power up and drop the shutter speed on 200th/sec and see how you get on

Ok take for example

from: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andraspentek/3508566256/

He has basically light this so it freezes the action, "Motion blur" is not needed when you capture the shot well. You should know what trick the rider is doing if its caught well.

Wacking the power up bascially is because when using off-camera flash, the camera doesn't actually take the shot, its the Flashgun. The Flash-gun freezes the action and the camera looks after the background - so to speak.

I say keep going with the motion blur effects, everybody seems to do 'freeze the action' on bmx/skateboarding type stuff. Have a look into rear or 2nd curtain flash technique, i rekon that might look cool with your indoor setting

But its not creating a focus point, your eye does not have a definitive area to aim towards

Oh Gareth, your such a modernist I dont want a focus point whatever that means, i want to feel like the rider has blasted past me at a billion miles per hour and pulled the maddest trick ever. It dosnt matter that i didnt see it stopped still in perfect detail, I let my imagination do that. Each to their own though obviously

I gave up on even trying to get results with shit lighting, it's just not worth the hassle (and disappointment) IMO.
