rite im a total noob when it comes to cameras lol i just use disposable 1's but my mrs is well into photography with all the different shutter speed n lens i think lol, ive got bwt £400 to buy her a decentish camera for xmas any point me in the right direction ???

assuming she wants a digital SLR then?
I know you can get the nikon d3000 for £369
Canon eos 1000d for £399 - prices quoted from jessops website... can get cheaper from places like pixmania

I have the 1000d and it is a very good camera tbh, even though mines broke a few times (1st time technically my fault, 2nd time was the bit that was replaced broke, 3rd time the part they replaced got bored and decided to make a run for it and broke again)

surely it depends which make she prefers aswell? i.e canon or Nikon
probably best to take her into the likes of jessops and let her play and pick

She needs to really tell you what she is comfortable with and Canon / Nikon etc have completely different feels and menus to grasp your head around.

I've never used a canon, but my nikon d60 is easy enough to use.

she never used the digital 1s before, she used to devolp her own at college but now she's left it not that easy to do so she wants to go digital now.... but she has mentioned the nikon d60 a cuple of times

it's a pretty decent camera for a beginner, I'm happy with it, but I think it's been phased out and replaced with the d3000?
