im looking to starting a job in next month and they do a criminal record check and want to make sure it isnt a waste of time paying the money out. So basically if you go to court and get a final warning/caution does that class as a conviction on your record anyone no for sure?

Cheers

afaik, a warning basically means you've got off with a conviction. So no.

A caution will show on a CRB.
Cautions are generally for first offence and issued by custody sergeant, not courts

I'm awaiting my CRB check atm for my new job...

Thing is I have been clean since being 18 and I was told by the police that after I was 18 they wouldn't show up on checks. I'm 25 now, I really hope that's the case.

Yeah a caution shows up, to get a caution (at the police station certainly) you have to admit to commuting said crime.

To be fair, if you get arrested and the investigation goes no where and it all gets NFA'd, still shows on your PNC print out

Is that right?

I was attacked by a neighbour in my street and in self defense i ended up putting him in hospital so his face could be stitched back together.

I got NFA'd.

Depends if they request full disclosure.
Cautions do show, as they are a form of disposal.

You would not have recieved a caution. You cant have one until you are 18, under 18 goes a bit like this;
Informal action
Repremand
Final Warning
You would have had something similar to a cannbis warning (if it was a small amount)

As long as you have not been in trouble since (i.e after 18) the record for this offence will be clear.

That's not actually true, I received a caution when I was 17, and it stayed unspent for 6 months I think it was. They take longer to become spent once you're 18. I found a really good website with information about this but can't find it again now.

For most jobs you don't have to declare spent convictions, unfortunately I've gone for a job with the NHS which means I must declare everything no matter how long ago it was and how minor.

Mmm, I got cautioned for breach of the peace a few years back, and I never admitted anything

breach of the peace is common law, not criminal law.
