depends what you want tbh.

c20xe has been done to death and 90% of engines are in need of a lot of tlc.
x18xe1 newer engine, easyer to get parts and they make the car nicer to drive, not as powerfull as the c20xe but there are a few mods on the market for them

your not having to rag its tits off to get it to go anywhere and on hills you dont need to drop a few gears to keep the same speed, much more torque which for me makes it a nicer car to drive

Id say the c20xe 'been done to death' is a good thing, lots of knowledge out there if you do get stuck, not so with the 1.8. 90% of engines needing a lot of tlc is laughable.

Ive never had a problem getting anything for a 20xe in work, i dont think the 1.8 has as much availability on the aftermarket at the moment.

I dont think the 1.8 is nicer to drive either, ive driven a lot of 1.8 Astras and yes they are a bit heavier than a corsa but i still always find them a bit flat. The 1.8 does not have more torque than the 2.0.

If you want factory fresh and a bit of an upgrade go 1.8, if it was me going through the bother of swapping engines id just go 2.0.
