Grit does fuck all once the snow is more than a few cm thick on the ground, hence why most councils didnt bother wasting time, effort and money throwing it out.
Now the snow has stopped coming down in a lot of places the gritter have been out to turn the now compacted snow on the roads in to slush which will then go.

Even some of the main roads around here don't look like they have been done.
Yesterday, the main road near my house was still like a skating rink at about 2 o'clock, Theres have been a few around here like that.

Been out around here, and even on the industrial estate at work.
Bit skiddy approaching the A1 this morning though on a road that is otherwise fine.

Milton Keynes council were on it like a beast when reports of snowfall came in, the next day the roads were nice and clear. No worries.

I crashed into a bush this morning at the entrance to the carpark as our artic-lorry had gone sideways and bloked the yard. And i thought 10mph was a safe speed

Have only seen 1 gritter in 2 weeks of all this shite. Sure they are about as the roads are getting gritted (well most of them) but used to see them all the time when the weather was bad. Deffosome cost cutting going on this year me thinks!
First year a lo of pavements seem to have been left untouched as ice rinks too

I've seen a few about, I always seem to be getting pelted by the fuckers anyway!
The pavements are simply shocking. I struggled to walk into town yesterday, I have no idea how anybody elderly is getting about in this, even walking down the garden path was a challenge in itself.
Went flat on my arse getting out my car too, hopefully no nosy neighbours were watching

I read an article the other day, I didn't realise the scale or the fact there is an exact science to it. There has to be set conditions and times etc... I just thought they seen some snow so poured grit on the road to stop it being slippy

None on main roads or otherwise from our local council, our council are possibly the most corrupt and useless of all of them though.

None here but the street sweeper was around today, that helped things, now like an ice rink.

All the main roads have been done but side roads have been left. There's a couple of busy roads that have been untouched which has caused me a few issues.
We had a customers server down for two days who are out in the sticks. We had to get up there today and show our faces and have to do a complete rebuild next tuesday. Was the most dangerous road i have ever been on. Covered in snow and ice. Proper shitting my pants driving up into the moutains knowing if the van steps out, that's me over the edge and possibly dead.
