Need to start thinking about getting and External Hard Drive for backing up my photography.
I want to spend around £50-80 and would like a decent make (nothing that's going to fail out of the box) but Drive space will be around 500gb+ (I understand)
Reliability is more important to me that space if I'm honest. No point in my backing a years worth of shots up if its going to fail on me straight away.
Any links/advice/idea's welcome!

If reliability is more important get 2x500GB and do a backup of a backup instead of 1x1TB for the same price.
Seagate or Western Digital.

I'd be going for an online backup solution or RAID if the data is really important to you.
However, ALDI have a USB external Medion 1TB Hard Disk for under £65. Comes with 3 years waranty as well.

Seagate have been mentioned a lot in my questions...
Andrew - I would get an online solution but that's most costs I could do without.

Gaz,
You could look at a NAS solution which would make it a central data store for multiple laptops etc. Here is what I would buy:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/158613
Or if that is too much cost I would just go with the non-NAS equivalent:

I have used/abused multiple Western Digital external drives over the years and not had one fail on me yet. *touches wood*
