just a quick question, if i take my certificate to the local dvla centre and the other docs i need to they transfer it there and then? if not il just post it. cheers

MOT, Tax, Logbook and I think insurance?

No they dont transfer it there and then..

The local office will accept your payment, check your documents and then send them on to swansea who will authorise the transfer.

You generally get a receipt and your new tax disc back in about 7 days then your new V5 will take up to a month.

When I transfered mine onto the car the did it there and then

Transferred a plate on the day in Glasgow last week, yet couldn't when I done one a few months ago, they seem to change it all the time.

i have done it twice on the spot. i had to wait a bit to get my new v5 but they gave me all the stuff i needed to get my new plates made up.

They used to do it at the offices.. Its changed now.. All transfers and retentions have to go to swansea.

so how do you know when it's actually been done? surely there will be a period when you could be driving round with the wrong plates on?

Yep.. I'm still driving around with HAVOC on my impreza and the transfer request when in on the 9th. You have to wait until they send you the new tax disc and tell you to swap the plates.

I got mine transferred, and it was ready to fit to the car there and then, just had to wait for docs to come back.
