All jokes aside, Glasgow (or some parts of it) are no go areas for even the locals, its one nasty, smack head full, city.

A lad I worked with is from Glasgow, and was telling me stories of seeing smack heads pin up in the middle of a street broad daylight, and often heard gunshots. Lovely place, I'd feel safer in London.

Used to live not far from leicester, went out there quite often, have/had friends/gf's from there it aint that bad. Odds on it was some scabby old car backfiring than gunshots, tell her to chill out, there's far worse places about
