Went and met a guy at the weekend to swap cars. He supposedly had a mint audi tt with low miles so was swapping my mk4 golf for it plus 800 notes. tt is worth alot more than the golf so plan was to get it and sell on.
met him the car had no oil! Nothing. Not even a tiny bit on the dip stick. Had been keyed all down the side of it and the clown hadn't even washed the car. plugged in vag com, came up with 7 faults saying the alarm had been set off by the crash sensor  .
Why can’t people just be honest in their adverts instead of wasting my time? My golf is mint in comparison

You got off lightly, in those circumstances you usually get robbed of your car and the money and if you're wearing decent trainers them as well.

I actually thought about that so got a few mates to come in my brothers car too, was only up the road. Didnt like the idea going to meet a stranger with £800 on me

Most people wouldn't have the nounce to plug it into vag com and check it all over.
He was probably banking on you just wanting to haggle a little more off the price his way as a lot of people would.

I just didnt wanna get a car that was gonna end up costing me more money.

kind of.
there going for 5k - 6k I rekoned my golf was worth about 3800 and I was adding 800 so there wasnt too much of a difference.

tbh what were you thinking? you were going to get a mint audi tt for yours, wise up, these people out there are jokers you don't get something for nothing in this world, especially when people want to swap cars, ojc is right you got off lightly

worth a punt though. Sometimes people are desperated for money, so are willing to do things like this. He check it out, found it was a shitter and left it at that. No harm done
