Google hasn't helped really, anyone know how to do it and if it's safe enough for a non electrician to do? Had a look at the fitting and looks like its just a case of unscrewing current wires from the transformer and swapping it with the new one. Any tips?

just isolate your lighting circuit mate. you might want to plug a lamp into a socket so you're not working in darkness. it's a straight swap, very easy. will only take you 2 mins.

Also, make sure your new transformer is the same rating etc..

holy christ this was a pain in the arse! Turned out the broken transformer had 2 lives and 2 neutrals, new one had one lot. Had to get a junction box and was there for ages trying to stick all the wires together in the tiny holes and keeping them there.

Worked tho
