Pretty much irrelevant how much Colin paid for his car, doesn't mean a thing.
You could go the non-dealer route with either and save obviously. Depends if warranties are involved.

Brakes are only £650 odd iirc. But Insp2 service will set you back £1k and tyres are £900 for 4 standard fit contis
