hello i have a corsa gsi and doing a rear disc conversion, im was going to upgrade the fronts to 2 litres but my current set up is 256x20 and the 2.0 one are 256x24 so surely i just need to change the pads and discs? its only the width of the disc so surely they fit or are the calipers slightly wider? its only becuase i dont want the back end locking up im backing the load sense valve right off

fit bias valve in-line and bias more towards the front

thing is with the 2.0 discs, they are vented at the centre aswell whereas the 1.6 ones arent. this does helping cooling a lot.
depends what you are doing with the car, but overall rear drums and larger front brakes is normally a good enough combination.

The discs are wider and the callipers are bigger so you want to upgrade everything. Well thats what i would have thought

ah did not notice this when I fitted mine, thought the disc design was the same apart from being 4mm thicker. Couldnt find my braided hoses though went I fitted mine, just dug them out. I suppose they will just improve the feel of the brakes ie firmer?

yeah its just i see a post someone used 2.0 brakes with rear disc conversion and he DIDNT use a bias valve, and he didnt suffer from the back end twitching, i was going to se braided hoses on the front if this will improve braking, and back the lsv off, i have abs so ill be pulling th fuse out etc of it or i might try the sensors on my 1.8 astra gsi hubs to see if they work with my 1600 abs so if i did put 2 litres with braided hoses i doubt my back end would lock up,

the last thing you want to do on a short wheelbase fwd lightish car like a corsa is improve the rear end braking ability without drastically improving the front. all the weight on a corsa is up front. without correctly biasing the rear braking if you fit discs, it will make the back end go very light. which really isnt ideal at all.

As Nic said, don't fit discs on the back just to make it look better. Just get some four pots up front

i do like the look of rear discs tho better than boring old drums, its not gunna be used on track hardly, its just i got abs and what an arse to re-pipe the brakes would i need to change the master cylinder if i was to swap brake lines off a non abs corsa? that way be easier to bias the brakes

dont need to change master cylinder. and honestly, good luck trying to use 2nd hand brake lines off another car.
still though you would have 2 lines going to the rear from 2 seperate circuits. you would need 2 bias valves.
