Downfall is a masterpeiceL but its about a different subject!

Accents arent bad, plenty of films shot in a similar manner. Suspension of beleif is required perfectly acceptable in cinema imo...

The plight of them trying to bring the Naz war machine to an end and save lives, basicly saying they where on the allies side and being executed for trying to do the right thing? That brought a tear to my eye.

I dont think that first bit was necessary though. Uniforms told me who was who.

Never really understood this point of view, do Germans speak German to each other with an accent? if you notice at the beginning he's speaking in German then it fades in to English, in other words demonstrating that he's meant to be speaking in German all the time. Much better than having the actors attempt a comedy kraut voice TALKINK LIKE ZISS YAA

Yeah but the point in acting is to portray the character you are playing as accurately as possible, any actor worth there salt should be able to approximate there characters accent to a reasonable level (or atleast attempt it).

Exactly, but how is speaking English with a dodgy German accent portraying Claus Von Stauffenberg 'as accurately as possible' ? The guy was German.

Spot Tom Cruise in this picture. Quite a good resemblance I thought.

he was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria but moved to Kapuzinerstrasse when he was 3, which is in Passau, Germany. Both places were much closer to Munich then Vienna. Also, you have to remember that back then Germany and Austria were best buddies, they wouldn't have thought anything of jumping over the border into the other.

True, but as soon as he was able to as a young man he left home and moved to Vienna. He only left there and moved to Munich to avoid service in the Austro-Hungarian Army.

If I was a footballer I'd be like Andy Cole, I'd be spitting out my lyrics while scoring some heavy goals.
