The iPod is connected to Wifi, and the car has a computer in it connected to 3g, so it's effectively just sending a signal over the internet, which is output by the car computer to unlock the car / start the engine etc.
Not too difficult to do, but pretty cool.

Is it the video with the Honda? When he actually drives the car? Confirmed fake that one.
There is a system available in America though, you install hardware in the car which communicates with an app on the iPhone for central locking, remote start and notifies you if your alarm is goin off lol! I want it
