I've sat in some new cars and when they use the washer jets on their windscreen, it's silent. In my corsa, you try to use them and as soon as you pull that stalk, you think the Russians are invading, how can I fix this? Is it a simple case of something is old and needs replacing or is it just the unfortunate way of the old cars?

I guess I could try some sound deadening on the underside of the bonnet and the bulkhead. It'll help a little bit, just a shame that they're so noisy tbh

For the 2% of the time you're in the car using them why does it matter so much?

Replace the pump if you like, doubt it will make much differance.
New cars have so much sound deadening its unreal.

It'll be the pump rather than the actual jets!
I fitted a new pump to mine recently and it's quieter than my van, but as already said, it's an old Corsa, can't expect miracles!
