My mates dad has the full HD package and my mate rekons that if his dad got multi rooms he could take one of the boxes to his house and use it with his sky dish as long as it had a 'quad lmb' (or something like that)

Any truth in that?

Yep... just don't tell Sky what you're planning as it's against their T&C's

Dirty bugger, he says he'll just give his da a tenner a month to cover it or something.

The mrs has sky at her house with multi rooms, is it just a case of phoning sky and asking for another box and card or something?

Pretty much yeah, ask to get multiroom put in. We got it done the same time as having HD installed. It's good stuff.

No you won't.. just take the box back to the registered address and run a call back
When I worked for Sky I had 5 boxes on my staff account... 2 in London, 2 in Bolton and 1 in Portugal... never had any contact from billing regarding the boxes not being plugged into the phones.

They don't even know the basic settings on their own products so I doubt they could ever find out, just don't plug it into the telephone line.

People do similar all the time when they want British TV abroad - they get a Sky setup and then take the lot to say France and hook it up themselves out there.

Happened to me and when they caught on once, kept pinging it every month
gave up in end and got my own box
Cause they kept trying to bill us twice for it.

Yes, works fine...pretty much

I just took my multiroom card to my flat and I have all the channels.

Only problem I have is some channels are really jumpy and I obviously can't call sky

Edit..

Had the multiroom card going for 3 years at home before the flat, never a problem not having it plugged in to the phone line.

It's only the first year you need it plugged into the phoneline, although this seems to be random, me and at least a few other people on here have never had it plugged in and never had any problem.

Mine was not installed with a phone line plugged in and they didn't charge me...and the box has never been plugged into a phone line since...no problems.

I have never had mine, my parents HD box, my parents multi room box, and my sisters Sky+ box plugged in to the phone line since about 10mins after they were installed - all of which I set up whilst/after the sky guy was there.
