IIRC there are a few doorman on here, I know Craig_W still does it but anyone else?
I used to do it between 2001-2004, this was pre SIA days and just had a local authority badge.
Im fed up with clubbing tbh now so coming out of retirement, used to have a good laugh and although bloody cold in winter you are still getting paid for a night out i guess.
Booked a 3 day SIA course this weekend, anyone done it? its 3 ten hour days, I cant see how there can be that much material?

its never that long mate.
mine was 4 days long. 9-3 every day and 2 of them days were exams and role playing.
well supposed to be 9-3 we got away each day by 1-2
course is piss easy, hardest part is trying to stay awake

No your right, but generally the case. Dont worry a close school friend who lives about 5 doors away has just been banned from working the door for excessive force. I think knowing the fact they can stop a 17 year old girl going for a drink, gives them penis points.

Mine was 4 days and was 5-9
Easy as 2bh and not exactly challenging.
Thought the SIA licence came into force in the 90's though?

No was local authority badges. You had to apply and were issued a white badge and could start work immediately. You then had to do the course within 3 months upon which you were issued a gold badge.
It will have been different depending on the area of the country though.
Im just worried about the staying awake thing. 8.30-19.30 what a chore.

Lol it is abit but in fairness I had a good time, the tutors we're a good laugh.
Remember one question in the "exam"
Q: You notice a bin obstructing a fire exit, what should you do? :-
A) Ignore it
B) Tell manager
C) Make note of it for later
or
D) Move the bin.......
And it's literally that simple!

I have a problem with about 70% of the doorman round my way, they seem to think working the door gives them some unquestionable right to try it on with every bird who walks past them I know they aren't all like that but around my way doormen are mostly like big kids who don't do much to stabilise the door they work on, and usually just act like big kids with big egos.

Tom I never chatted a girl up in the 4 years that I did it. I was there purley for the extra cash, used to wind me up if there was just two of us on a door and the other was chatting girls up all night as it means he's taken his eye of the ball and im having to be 2 pairs of eyes.
I used to get girls saying "cheer up, whats wrong with you".. and Id be like "uhm... Im working..." yes miserable sod I know but thats not what im there for. We used to call the girls that love doormen "door meat", and trust me they arent the kind of girls you want to get involved with anyway.

As I say, I know it's not all of them(you!) and it's likely just the nobs that work where I go out but it's very infuriating when they talk to my missus like i'm not stood next to her and every time I see them out of the corner of my eye they are like dogs on heat dribbling over anything wirth a pulse, it's embarrasing tbh!
