£2400 on a 1.2 8v in my own name at 17.
£1400 on a 1.2 8v in my dads name with me as an additonal driver at 17.
both with quinn direct. when I turned 18 I did a quote in my own name with Churchill it was £1560.

£750 all mods declared with quinn direct in my parents name but me as additinal driver,but thats on a provisinal still so will probely go up over£1000.and iv also had my renal from quinn the other day and because iv now got 1 yr no claims its only £530 with mods but thats a provisinal still

As far as im aware you only build up no claims as a named driver with direct line.
Im also with quinn direct, 18 went took out policy, corsa 1.4 sport, bodykit alloys exhaust all mods declared,

Quinn were the cheapest for me by miles for my first two years of driving. But be warned if you start a policy on a provisional they whack the premium up when you pass. I had to pay an extra £650 when I passed my test, luckily it still worked out cheaper than all the other quotes I got

Certainly can't expect miracles ie. cheap insurance unfortunately mate.
Definitely better to take the hit and pay for you to be the main driver and get those NCB's built up quicker too.

Quinn are really cheap with pass plus

insurance seems to have gone up quite a bit in the last couple of years! when a passed my test at 17 i was 1100 on my 1.6 corsa sport on my own policy with quinne direct. and it went down to 800 after a year! only good for the first couple of years tho with adrian flux now for the valver!
