I have a 1999 mk4 astra
1.6 8v single point injection ecotec.
the other day it started running like crap. I thought it was the head gasket as the oil was slightly whitening and creamy.
So, i fitted a new head gasket. That didnt solve the problem at all.
So, off to the scrapyard to get another cylinder head.
Fitted that today, along with another coil pack and still nothing.
it sounds like a cylinder is completley not firing at all, i have tried new plugs and leads too.
im going to do a pressure test on it tomorrow and see if that brings anything up,

anyone know what i can do next as i really need the car for work.

cheers,
Rob.

i presume so as it runs fine and even hits high revs while its running on 3, i would have thought if the fuel wasnt getting there it would just cut out when the engine got into higher revs?

I misread it, I thought it wasn't firing at all., so its only 1 cylinder? Do a compression test and go from there.

well, did the compression test and they was all fine 3 cylinders on around 14 bar and 1 cylinder about 12ish bar, so... the coilpack has been replaced, the plugs and HT leads replaced, headgasket replaced, cylinder head replaced and its still running on 3 cylinders. Im completley stumped as to what it could be?
