The garages and oil companies >"combined"< profit is only 4.5p a litre , 74p goes to the government straight away and the rest production costs.
that is all.

That said, look at Dubai, the richest country in the world from oil and a truely fascinating place. Now think about how much money the government have got from fuel and wasted. Sickening.

Think of the millions of gallons they sell, to cars, planes, ships though and demand is increasing, so I don't see any surprise in massive profits....but they don't charge much per litre.

Still too much. Who needs to make that much profit? Some people are getting seriously rich off everyone else.

Sand eel, totally agree with you and just look at the cost of actually getting oil out the ground and making petrol too.
To get oil from a new field (subsea) costs can be in the hundreds of billions and it's a major gamble too!!So 2p a litre profit is fuck all really!
Also, while i'm on my high horse A litre of water can cost more

The forecourts not where the moneys made, its made upstream producing oil & gas & downstream refining it into a sellable product.
The garages, which are franchises anyway probably make more money selling chocolate bars & Sun newspapers.

Am I right is saying that Dubai is on borrowed time anyway? I thought that they owed a shed load in debt?

Yeah no one questions coca-cola selling bottles of coloured water & sugar for 1.50 a litre do they?
Our last drilling campaign cost 90 million & we produced nothing but sand & water, our new subsea tie-back has shrunk from a 10kbr/day producer to now just 2kbr/day & as it stands looks like their not going to bother with completions as its not viable. Drill rigs fucked off without well testing anyway. I hate to think how much thats cost, including the loss of production weve already taken due to topsides hook up causing problems.
Big money business needs big profit, otherwise, they just woudnt bother!!
