Will motor insurers let you pay monthly if you have a poor credit history/rating?

I've never been declined for wanting to pay monthly...

I would of thought they all would.

Should be fine, it's nit a credit agreement, they only provide insurance cover after you have paid, not before.

If you stop paying they'll just stop providing cover.
