im not normally one to ask about this sorta stuff on cars, but here is my problem..
my vents on the side of the car are getting very badly stone chipped, so i was going to cover them in vinyl.
ATM they are anthracite in colour, but i dont have any other anthracite parts on the car, so i was going to cover them in the carbon vinyl stuff to match the front splitter and i was going to cover the rear spoiler aswell.
here is a quick photoshop of the vents

would you not be better fitting some mudflaps to stop stones flying up opposed to trying to cover over stone chips and the viynl getting tatty with stone chips?

if its the proper 3m carbon stuff it could look good. im always a bit unsure about fake carbon though because obviously the main bought is weight saving not style whoring

What about using C-Flex material from CarbonMods.co.uk Its similar to the stuff used by the kit car boys; either that or give them a call. They might come to a deal with you to tool for the first set

Didn't read your post thoroughly enough! I thought you meant the arches needed protection; hence this material that the kit car boys use.
Carbonmods do a skinning kit instead which might be good; you an actual layer of carbon rather than carbon look film

Having actual carbon made up isn't really that expensive. Might be worth speaking to a company if you donate your vent to let them make the first one they might give you a big discount for doing so or even free. My mate just got an Astra VXR spoiler for £200.
