Basically started running back in november managed it till late december and had to stop as my knees started to crack near on constantly, but noticed that walking up stairs the left one grinds alot more than it used to, anyone else have this kind of problem? now i was told to go on an excercise bike by a few people to see if it was down to lack of muscle and to build some up but that appears to make the cracking worse but the grinding a little better now i have stopped everything but i actually miss running and would love to start it again, can anyone think of anything i could do to stop knees cracking/grinding?

I do have a doctors app in a weeks time to so will ask them then to see what they say but like i say just wandering if anyone else knows of anything i can do.

my knees crack quite a bit, i stretch them every so often and it seems to work.

apparently it can cause arthiritis later in life?

My knees and ankles have been doing it a lot recently, I just put it down to playing so much football on shit surfaces with the wrong footwear.

i suffer similar with my ankle, every step i take it clicks. if i go round in a loop with my foot it clicks.

Ive just this min been and bought glucosamine tablets and cod liver oil.

Boots have 3 for 2 at the min, glucosamine was 2.99 and cod liver oil was 1.99.

Ill update with my finding with it in a few weeks

My knees have done this for years, too much hockey when I was young was the doctors diagnosis. He just told me to rest, didn't stop at all!

This may all be in my head, but so far ive taken 3 days worth of the pills, and my ankle has nearly stopped clicking, its only now and again its doing it.

Also, my ankle feels like its alot tighter, it doesnt seem to rotate as far and as easy as it used to :/

Like i say, may be in my head, but it certainly seems better

I have this, its rough cartilage. Went to the doctor and they told me nothing could be done for it, building up more muscle on the legs will help though.

omega 3 tablets and Ginkgo Biloba help my bad knees

Can really feel it if not taken them for a while. Constant pain in both knees, couple of omega 3 tablets a day really helps

don't particulary find building muscle on the legs helped as fairly muscular legs and still get it.

Keeping the weight down helps

Running fucks your knees anyway. Never seen the point in it all it does is set you up for joint pain in the future. Squats and glute ham raises to build some leg muscle to take the strain off the joint. mine grind like fuck and only since i started training legs more did it subside a bit.
