Probably because it wasnt ran in properly and had its head kicked in from the first turn of the key

what do you need for this conversion if you used a sport gearbox then? just a cambelt side mount? was gonna build an xe corsa, might have a change of plan now...

some engines do 100's of k. ive had several xe's well beyond 150k miles and no drama's.

ive always found it weird people say an xe has loads of problems. bodged up shitty gyppo conversions obviously will have problems.

True. I bougt a 160k mile XE about 9 years ago after I bunged a rod through my old XE. OK, it wasn't as fast as the previous one but I still managed to snap driveshafts and engine mounts.

I have given 2 C20XE's away for free as I wanted them out of my garage.

A crap 2.0 8v doesn't strike me as a bargain when the dearest part of the conversion is the 'extras'.

EDIT: P.S. @ some guy with 'redtop' in his username not liking XE's. Read as - 'So skint he has to settle for an over-priced crap 8v lump!'

i have one in mines and i like it but in tommy's case havin a car he only paid a couple hundred pound for then he's only looking for a bit of poke for some fun. . .

well 400 for the car,120 for the 8v and a few hours convertin it al with the additional parts that i need.
just say no more than 600 n i have now got myself an 8v and that seems alright to me.

I did that once, woodruff key sheared and bent all the valves. (On the test run). Very annoying.

What have you got to do to the 115bhp lump to make it upto 130bhp power ?? isit just the ecu thats different ?? or isit the head porting along with the cam ??

would def be worth getting it upto 130bhp mate if its not too expensive, my friend had the 115bhp engine in his nova and to be fair it was bit pants for all the time and effort!! in the end he got 130bhp + and it went well!!

The 130bhp she lump has different cam, ecu and higher comp pistons.
